Hythe is a small coastal market town on the edge of Romney Marsh, in the District of Shepway on the south coast of Kent. The word Hythe or Hithe is an Old English word meaning Haven or Landing Place. The town has Medieval and Georgian buildings, as well as a Saxon/Norman church on the hill and a Victorian seafront promenade. Hythe town centre offers a variety of high street shops and supermarkets. There are also several sports facilities, clubs, societies and a splendid seafront with many walks and good access to neighbouring towns. At Folkestone West station there is a high speed train services to London with an approximate journey time of 53 minutes.
